Sensitive Teeth

What causes sensitive teeth?

Sensitivity can be caused by many things and the dental hygiene therapist is the person to diagnose the cause of sensitivity.  Smileworks have an extremely busy and effective hygiene department.  We only hire dental hygiene therapists because they are highly qualified and can help our patients with gum health and sensitivity.

Any pain in your mouth is usually bad news so it’s important to see the hygienist regularly so we can spot small problems before they become big ones.  Here at Smileworks our Therapists are extremely well qualified and take your gum health and happiness very seriously.  Patients love coming for their routine appointments and feel confident they’ve got their dental health under control and are being looked after by the best in the business.

Another popular reason for dental pain and sensitivity can be a failing tooth filling which you can learn about by following the link.

Finally your sensitivity might be caused by a hot nerve and you may need a root canal

Smileworks have more Google reviews than any other dental practice in the UK.  Here are some of our favourites from the hygiene department.

My worst experience at a dental clinic began when I booked an appointment for a hygiene treatment and check-up. After confirming the appointment, I took a day off work, only to find out that the staff had not scheduled the hygiene treatment. Despite... multiple calls and follow-ups, my appointment was eventually rescheduled, but it was cancelled because I arrived 10 minutes late. I was assured that management would contact me to resolve the issue, but after nearly three months of waiting, I have yet to hear from them. Due to the clinic's inefficiency and lack of accountability, I have lost £185.read more

Went in for a consultation as wanted to make a decision between a few clinics I was looking at if I was going to spend such a big amount of money.I must say their general hygiene really let the clinic down and the consultation was very pressurised.

Had a hygiene appointment today with Rebecca and Andreea. They were both very nice and polite and did a great job. They were also very informative and helpful throughout the process. Would recommend.

Healthy Gums

Sensitivity can often be caused by underlying problems with the gums, and maintaining healthy gums is extremely important if you have sensitive teeth. When you come for your routine appointment, our super-qualified therapists and hygienists will be able to diagnose the problem and figure out precisely what is making your teeth hurt.  Once we have the cause then it’s just a matter of planning and carrying out the treatment.  Gum health is something that you need to ensure in your own bathroom and your treating practitioners will advise you of the best ways to do this and also provide you with everything you need to ensure beautiful, healthy gums long into the future.

Problems with the tooth root

Take a look at our main page on root canals here:  Root Canal Liverpool

Sensitivity can be caused by infected or inflamed tooth roots and this is something that needs dealing with right away. Sometimes a little bit of sensitivity can spell big trouble in your roots and this could mean endodontic treatment.  This is where your dentist will remove the infected root and replace it with an inert filling material to stop pain and prevent further infection or damage.
